The children will be teaching Freddy Frog everything he needs to know to become friends with the mini-beasts in the garden. They will help him to understand what he needs to be like (attitudes) and what he needs to be able to do (skills). They will show him what this looks like and what this sounds like during the week.
Whilst working on solving problems in a team, Freddy heard the children say...
- "What's your idea?"
- "Time's up! Look at the clock."
- "What do you think?"
- "I'm giving you some glue for your team."
- "We're done, team!"
- "We kept on trying, we did"
- "We worked as a good team."
- "Hmmmm. It's a giraffe? Giraffes aren't mini-beasts. (Laughter). Maybe it's a caterpillar...or a worm? (after playtime) IT'S A SLUG!"
- "We're all good resource managers."
- "My friend helped me."
- "We've done three legs, that means we need three more."
- "I can read this. I can read the letter!"
- "Can I do the quality checklist and tick?"
- "Can I help?"
- "Shall we have purple here?"
- "We had to have an idea, didn't we guys. We had to decide what it was!"
- "Diolch"
- "We cut the string and it was hard, but we didn't give up."
- "We did good measuring with the sticks."
- "We can do better than that (building a house for Freddy). We can build a castle next and make him Prince Freddy!"
- "My paper chain is going to be EPIC!"
- "Let's get fixing!"
- "We are working as a team - TEAMWORK!"
- "Are you happy with that?"
- "Come on, team!"
- "I was looking carefully, I was."
Whilst working on solving problems in a team, Freddy saw the children...
- laughing and enjoying themselves
- thinking
- collecting resources
- sharing resources and handing them to other teams
- taking turns
- trying to work out problems about how to take turns
- focusing on the task for extended times
- celebrating success
- keeping an eye on the time and letting everyone know
- begin to ask their team for help more (rather than an adult)
- take responsibility
- encouraging each other
- persevering
- challenging themselves to be better and achieve more
- reflecting on their teamwork attitudes and skills.
- transferring their learning (attitudes and skills) from one task to another.
